Brow Lamination

Q: DO WE HAVE TO USE A HEAT SOURCE FOR THIS TO WORK?
A: All chemical reactions require some form of heat, Elleeplex Profusion has been designed to work with the heat of the room, the processing times that have been developed have been calculated in a normal salon temperature environment.
However, heat can be utilized on clients with very thick stubborn brow hairs to help break down the disulphide bonds at a faster rate.

Q: DO I NEED TO USE ADHESIVE TO KEEP THE HAIRS IN PLACE DURING THE TREATMENT?
We do find applying and brushing the lotion through the hairs with the brow wrap applied is enough to hold them in place during the processing time. You can use a small amount of adhesive on any strong or more resistant hairs to fix into place.

Q: CAN I WAX THE BROWS THEN DO THE BROW LAMINATION AFTERWARDS?
Waxing could potentially result in burns/microtears to the skin which may not be apparent straight away, therefore it is our recommendation to perform waxing at least 24/48hrs prior to a lamination service, this way you are able to assess the
condition of the skin and determine whether it is safe to perform a brow lamination at this time. Clients often opt to have treatments all performed at once rather then returning 2 days later so we recommend waxing the brows after the brow lamination with caution.

Q: CAN I APPLY HENNA TO THE BROWS AFTER A LAMINATION?
We recommend pairing your brow lamination service with an Elleeplex Profusion tint, as the lower percentage of oxidant is gentler and safer on the hair and skin which especially important after a chemical treatment to not cause stress on the hair. Brow henna requires some time to process and there is an extensive amount chemical exposure to the skin and with the granular like consistency of the henna this can lead to irritations and strain on the hair and skin.

Q: HOW LONG DO I LEAVE THE TINT TO PROCESS FOR AFTER A BROW
LAMINATION?
As the lamination lotions swell and raise the cuticles of the hair, they will become quite porous meaning they will absorb the tint and the colour will develop quicker meaning you may not need to process for as long as you normally would. However, if the goal is to create a darker shade for the client you can leave the tint to process for up to 10 minutes.

Q: WHAT ARE SOME GOOD QUESTIONS TO ASK MY CLIENT DURING THE CONSULTATION TO CHOOSE THE BEST BROW DESIGN FOR THEM?
Apart from checking suitability and ensuring no contraindications are present, some great questions to ask your client could be - how does your client normally style their brows? Example, do they keep them quite natural or do they like more of a fluffy lifted finished “Instagram brows”, do they wear makeup daily, do they normally have colour in their eyebrows, when tinting do they want a solid bold colour or more of an ombre finish? These questions can help you determine which brow style will suit the clients desires best.

Q: HOW MUCH SHOULD I CHARGE FOR THIS SERVICE?
There are a few things to consider when pricing your service, experience/expertise level, when starting out you may want to consider an introductory rate to build up your skill and portfolio and also confidence with the service. You also need to consider your expenses such as insurance, marketing, rents/utilities to name a few. As a guideline we recommend charging from $65 for a brow lamination service or around $85-$100 if you are including
a tint.

Q: I’VE DONE THE TREATMENT AND THE BROWS DIDN’T LAMINATE AS MUCH AS I WOULD HAVE LIKED, WHY HAS THIS HAPPENED AND WHAT DO I DO?
There can be many reasons for this including processing times, incorrect cleansing of the brow area where there are barriers left on the hair, the brow hairs where not stretched out enough, not enough lotion has been applied or hormones, diet or medications can also alter the outcome. If you find the results to be not as lifted as you had hoped, it is safe to re-laminate the brows following the same procedure with a reduced processing time. Generally, you will re-process for half of the initial processing times or less. You can check the flexibility of the hairs during the processing by pulling back the cling film and brushing through the hairs.
